A child in Israel needs YOU today!

For kids around the world, Purim is a day of fun and laughter.

FOR A POOR CHILD, IT’S A DAY OF LONELINESS AND SHAME.

There is no food for a proper seudah, so his stomach remains painfully empty. There is no money for mishloach manos, so he has no nosh-filled packages to exchange with friends and neighbors. His family is branded as the needy one on the block, so there’s not a single knock on the door for tzedaka.

How can a child celebrate on Purim, when the day highlights everything he is missing?

SEND MATANOS L’EVYONIM TO A CHILD IN ISRAEL AND WIPE AWAY HIS TEARS

Purim is every child’s favorite. Or is it?

For an orphaned or poor child, Purim is the worst Yom Tov ever. It’s during Purim that their situation is starkly highlighted, and they feel their loss so keenly.

When we send the regular monthly and weekly food packages in Adar, we make sure to include hamantashen, candies, and other extra goodies so that these children can prepare and celebrate like their peers.

Besides for food, Rabbi Shisha hand delivers matanos l’evyonim to true aniyim – impoverished people – whose needs have been verified by our board of rabbanim. We give 1,000 shekels (about $300) matanos l’evyonim to each family.

We also bring the joy of Purim into the homes of single-parent families. Our volunteers, the same men who pack and deliver food every Thursday night, now dress up and bring light and joy into these homes. We sing and dance with the children and surprise them with a beautiful mishloach manos packages and with Purim Gelt – 20 shekels for each delighted child!

This Purim, let’s create fun memories for every child.
