Delivering Purim Joy to Prison

Late on Thursday night, we finally got the special permit we needed to go dance with prisoners in Be’er Sheva. We were busy all Friday and till late on Motzei Shabbos finding more volunteer dancers, musicians, and singers and arranging transportation for everyone.

When we got there on Sunday afternoon, we met a group of volunteers from another organization that came to deliver mishloach manos. Unfortunately, the prison guards denied them entry. We gladly took their beautiful baskets into the prison with us. I cannot violate the prisoners’ privacy by showing you pictures of them, and I don’t think that any words in the world could adequately describe their reaction. I’ll ask you to imagine how overjoyed they were at our visit.

May this be one joy that you never experience.
